We get asked a lot of questions, so we figured we would answer the ones we get asked the most to help you out!
Frequently Asked Questions
How soon should I hire my videographer?
Depending on the month that you are getting married in, you should typically hire your videographer about 10-18 months before your wedding date. If you aren’t having a long engagement, your date might still be available. The earlier you can reserve your date, the better chance you’ll be sure to have me be there!
How many videographers will be present at my wedding?
I custom build a lot of packages for my couples, but most of the time, it is 2 of us.
How long will it take to receive my finished wedding film?
I average around 3 months, but my contract says within 6 months, unless otherwise notified
Does Redeemed Productions carry insurance, and are you licensed as a business?
Yes! Simply put, I am covered. Always ask your vendors if they carry insurance, and if they are licensed to be doing work in the state. You would be surprised at how many people go buy a camera and call themselves “professionals.”
Can we meet and talk about my ideas for my wedding film?
Absolutely! I want to meet with you and get to know you! It helps me, and even makes my job easier when I can sit down and get to know my couples and really listen to how they envision their big day! It’s my job to tell the story, so the more I can learn about you, the better! I typically do check ins at 6 months, 3 months, and 1 month before the wedding to make sure we are all good to go!
Do you have recommendations for other great wedding professionals?
Of course I do! I have filmed hundreds of weddings now, and have had the privilege to get to know several wedding professionals. I only recommend the vendors I can trust.
How long have you been filming weddings? And how many do you do per year?
I started in 2007. I have shot well over 500 weddings at this point. I can’t believe how fast the time has flown by, and how many amazing couples I have had the honor of working with over the years! I try to limit video to 15 weddings a year these days
How would you describe your style — more documentary, cinematic or a mix of both?
Heirlooms. That is my style. What does that mean? I want to give you an heirloom of your story, of your day. Each couple is different, but my style is to tell that story uniquely in a way that means something to you.
Do we get to choose the music?
The vast majority of wedding videographers illegally use music that is not licensed to be put into their films. I have access to a music licensing company that I can use to purchase licenses on songs. So with my couples, as I get to know you, I do my best to not be creatively stuck in a box with a specific song. That being said, I am up for suggestions, but in 17 years, haven’t had a single couple ask for a different song than the one I picked out.
How do we pick out a package?
I honestly will never sell you anything you don’t need. That is why I have so many 5-star reviews. But, I won’t let the day happen without you knowing fully that you are getting everything you need. I will help you see what is important, and what isn’t. We typically start everyone with a package that covers the day, gets you a feature film, and makes sure you have everything covered. In our 6 month out meeting, I go over the package you have, and make sure I don’t need to add more time, etc.
What else should I know about wedding videography?
The truth is you only get 1 chance to do it right. If you are dealing with someone that is willing to film all day long, with multiple operators, give you all of the raw footage, DVDs, etc., etc. for $1000, you might want to take a step back and see what is missing. Most of the time they are showing you a 2-3 minute highlight reel with the best of their best shots, and it will rarely include audio from the ceremony or reception. Your wedding video is one of the only items you get to take away with you from your wedding day. You can’t go back and get more footage, or better audio once it happens. Are you going to really trust your uncle to do that for you?
