Meg and Benton’s Positano Italy Wedding Video
Meg and Benton’s Positano Italy Wedding Video
When I heard word that Meg was going to be getting married in Italy, I immediately sent her a message. I had filmed her brother’s wedding 3 years ago, and fell in love with their family. I sent that message, in hopes that she would say yes to my proposal (no pun intended.) I borderline begged her to consider bringing me out from Tulsa to fly to Italy to film this destination wedding. She had no idea I would be willing to do so, and was so happy I reached out. So much of what we do is personal. By knowing pretty much everyone that was going to be making the trip already, I was able to craft a story that was a bit deeper than she could have gotten in other places. I hope it shines through on this edit. When we arrived in Italy a few days before the wedding, we spent 1 whole day on a yacht doing a tour around the island of Capri. From the blue grotto, to a lunch on the ocean, it was surreal. I still can’t believe it happened. The rehearsal dinner was the best view I have ever had for dinner. Up in the mountainside overlooking Positano, on the rooftop of a restaurant. I can’t make this stuff up. The wedding day at Casa Angelina. Everything was perfect. But what stood out to me the most was this idea of intimacy. Meg and Benton decided not to do a big traditional wedding. Instead, since Benton is from Dallas, and Meg’s family is from Tulsa, they thought it would be the perfect fit for them to do a “family-moon” for a week together in Italy. They all would pack their bags, and spend an entire week with family for a destination wedding in Italy. From guided tours, to cooking classes, and everything in between, they did it all. What it did, was brought these two families together. It usually will take years for a couple’s families to really get to know each other. But within 1 week, the two families felt like 1. It was really magical to watch. There were around 20 guests (including myself and my wife) and I believe 14 of them gave a speech. Tears were shed, emotions were strong, but the love that Benton and Meg had for family was what was the core of the week for me. I saw how Benton wanted to be a family man, and find the perfect woman. I saw how Meg had been holding out for the perfect man, and it all came together with God’s timing. It was a beautiful picture of grace, and abundance. I am humbled and honored to have captured it on film. I can only hope this video does the week justice. I hope you enjoy this film with your friends and family for a lifetime. Cheers to an amazing week, to amazing pasta, and amazing memories! Ciao! John
