I have known Tyler since I was a teenager. We actually led worship at our local church together. I was his drummer. When his now wife Ashley reached out to us about filming and photographing their wedding, I knew I wanted to do it.

They planned a beautiful outdoor wedding at the Tulsa Botanic Garden. With the backdrop of thousands of freshly budding flowers, the scene was set for the perfect Spring wedding. The week of the wedding, we saw the weather report. It said 100% chance of rain. Inches of rain. Not a sprinkle. Rain it did. ALL DAY LONG. It never stopped. Pouring rain, and we even saw snow flakes (yes in April in Oklahoma).

I learned something on this day. As I watched Tyler and Ashley’s outdoor wedding dreams being extinguished, I noticed something. They really could care less. It wasn’t about a big show, or about a big outdoor wedding.

It was about their faith in God, and his splendor. Ashley said her word this year is splendor. She has been focusing on seeing God’s splendor in the little things, and having that wonderment in her heart toward all of His creation. On a walk the morning of her wedding, it hadn’t begun to rain yet. She was able to marvel at the storms rolling in, and it was complete peace she had toward the day.

Too many moments for me to write about here, but do yourself a favor and soak this wedding film in. Watch as they are COMPLETELY not phased by anything during the day. Watching this love story makes me love my wife a little more than I did the day before. It reminds me of what God’s true intention for marriage is. These two people make each other better. They fill in the gaps to each other’s weaknesses.
