If there were ever two sweeter people in the world I wouldn’t believe it. So for starters, this wedding happened in January, in Oklahoma. That usually means we are going to have ice, and most likely be stuck inside all day. Not the case. The weather in Oklahoma is a bit finicky, and it decided to act like Spring already. It warmed up to well in the 60s, which is unheard of for January. Megan and Gage lucked out for sure, especially with that silky golden hour! We seriously couldn’t get enough of it! And we won’t apologize for all of the sun flares and sunset footage. Not gonna happen!
But in all seriousness, we couldn’t have been more honored to be at Southwind Hills in Norman for this wedding film. We got to work alongside one of the best photographers around, Sarah Libby Photography. I also brought in a new friend and awesome fellow wedding film maker from Wichita, Nick Miller, with Wild Oak Films to help me shoot the wedding. You have to go check out their page and show them some love!
When we got to Southwind Hills, I immediately got some drone footage, and the sky was so clear. Helped me get some really good aerial shots of the venue. The girls were inside, and hanging out when we were getting set up. I popped in to say hello, and they all treated me like family. Everyone was so NICE! Megan was getting ready, so I got some footage of her with her girls and getting into the dress. Gage was upstairs so we had him open his gift and read his letter. Such sweet moments between the two of them with their letters!
After a sweet first look with her dad, Megan went out with the girls to get some photos. At that time, the wind was blowing so hard we almost fell over (hello Oklahoma), so we had to make a different plan and head back to the barn. After the girls, it was time for the guys’ photos, followed by the ceremony. Gage was doing his best to hold back tears when Megan was walking down the aisle.
Our favorite part of the day had to be golden hour when the couple let us go out and get some magic footage! The Oklahoma sun was setting, the weather was perfect, and we had a blast for a good 20 minutes getting some incredible footage. It is that stuff that I sprinkled all over the edit because I couldn’t get enough of it!
The reception was filled with everyone having a great time. Big shout out to Southwind Hills for such an amazing catering team. Our crew made sure to taste test the food to keep the guests safe! Not to mention that cake from Amy Cakes. She is the best! Like seriously, it is insane how good that cake is!
At the end of the night, the couple made their grand exit onto a horse drawn carriage, and rode off into the distance. Pretty much like a fairytale to be honest. Since the wedding, I have been in touch with them, and they have been so patient with me as I had a few edits to do before theirs.
To Megan and Gage,
Thank you so much for letting me be part of your day. I truly am honored to have been part of it. I don’t know how to thank you for letting us tell your story. Hopefully you will cherish this video for a lifetime. I can’t wait to see your little family grow. If you ever need anything, please let us know!
John
