Hunter + Mikayla | Tarp Chapel and Gardens | Highlight Film

On Valentine’s day of last year, Hunter called us and asked us to photograph and film his proposal to Mikayla. It was the sweetest thing ever!

Hunter is in the Navy and wasn’t supposed to be home for awhile. But he had an idea and wanted to surprise Mikayla with a scavenger hunt that day. He sent her to a flower shop, a bakery, and the Oklahoma Aquarium. She had no idea he would be there waiting for her and she was so surprised! Little did she know, that wasn’t the only surprise he had for her at the aquarium that day. We had so much fun working with them, of course we had to do their wedding too!

They were married at Tarp Chapel and Gardens in Broken Arrow. The Navy has been a huge part of Mikayla and Hunter’s lives, and that was clear to us on their wedding day. Hunter wore his Navy uniform, the flower girls wore sailors’ dresses, and they tied a unity knot around an anchor during the ceremony. It was something we had never seen before, and we loved it!

Mikayla has a very special relationship with her dad. Her parents were young when Mikayla came into their lives, and her dad has been there for Mikayla through everything. He was very emotional all day (which we don’t mind…we LOVE moments between fathers and daughters). We could not hold back the tears when she gave him a photo of her when she was a little girl sitting on his lap.

We love this couple, and we are so happy to have been able to work with them over the past year!
